23 December 2007 - Comic #183

"The pages are in the original format.
Bruno Graff still has a few copies."

So, my friends, this is it. This is the last comic of 2007! Tomorrow we'll start with the ones of 2008!
Tarrin posted significantly less comics that year. So, while it took me 5 months to go through his entries of 2007, we'll be done with 2008 a lot faster. In fact, at the end of February you'll already get to read the comics of early April 2008 and by the end of March we'll have caught up with his entries of mid-October 2008. That's the time when he posted the first 13 pages of his first Maki story called "Un cœur de lémurien". (That's the story that was published in Tarrin's newest book "Le Parcours d'un puceau" which was released earlier this month.)

9 December 2007 - Comic #179

"Okay, I kinda failed the whole interview, but with whooping cough it just isn't easy.
On top of that, I have to do a live appearance tomorrow at noon. It's gonna be a catastrophe…
Could anyone upload it to Dailymotion in case it's not completely pathetic?
Broadcasting of the report + live interview between noon and 12:20 on France 3 South.
And broadcasting of the report only on France 3 Montpellier, tonight between 18:50 and 18:57 and again at 19:50 and 19:57."

"Clickable picture"

When you click on the image, you'll be directed to a French site about whooping cough. Tarrin commented in the original post that it's very unlikely that he caught it though, because he was inoculated against it as a child.

The comic is a reference to this blog entry about the Cheshire Cat taking over Pénélope Bagieu's blog while she is on vacation until 1 December.

This comic was also printed in Spirou magazine issue #3633. The day Tarrin posted this comic on his blog was also the day his Spirou & Fantasio book was published.

Look what I found in the mail today...

I just found this in my mailbox:

It's Fabrice Tarrin's new book that was published yesterday. I pre-ordered it on amazon.fr, but I'm still surprised it got here that fast.
The book contains the "Un cœur de lémurien" series that was published in Spirou magazine #3668, #3673, #3678 and #3682-#3696 from mid-2008 to early 2009.

Size-wise the book is right in the middle between Tarrin's Maki books and his Lemurien book.

The Maki books published by Dupuis have about the same size as an issue of Spirou magazine, so the pages in the magazine and the books look the same.
However, since the new book is smaller, what used to be one page in Spirou magazine is now spread over two pages, making the book twice as thick as the others with 90 pages of comics in total.

Left: Spirou magazine; Right: the book
Even though the story is fictional, if you've been following this blog for a while, you'll recognize a lot of the characters from his biographical Lemurien comics:

Fred and Cyril (who's called "Édouard" in the book)

Tarrin's mom

Cyril's parents

Lolita and Tarrin's best friend
Their personalities seem to be heavily influenced by their RL counterparts: "Édouard" is the somewhat crazy friend who likes to act cool. The Dalmatian that's based on Tarrin's friend Fred Neidhardt is this laid-back guy who sometimes unknowingly creates chaos and so on. There's even Madame Hamdouni who used to be Tarrin's landlord (or something like that) back when he was still living in Paris.
And that's what I like so much about Tarrin's stories; that all the characters are based on people he knows IRL.

Story-wise it seems to differ a bit from what was published in Spirou magazine. So far I've only flipped through it and I have yet to read the whole book, but at least the ending seems to be different. There are pages I haven't seen before and there are also some missing that I've seen in Spirou (like the New Year's Eve party for example).
I'll write a more detailed entry about the plot once I've read the whole book.

If anyone is interested in purchasing it, here are the details:

Le Parcours d'un puceau
by Fabrice Tarrin
Price: 13.90€
ISBN-10: 274930671X
ISBN-13: 978-2749306711

19 November 2007 - Comic #172

"At this exact minute, the TarrinBlog is turning one! As punishment I give you a gag with the Duck! 100% TRUE! Also, did you notice? We dusted off the blog with cOrti (the Webmaster) :)"

This comic (without the anniversary panel) was published in Journal intime d'un Lémurien on page 106.

So I finally translated one year's worth of Tarrin comics. Hooray! I know it doesn't sound like much considering that the blog has been online for over five years. However, actually it is quite a lot. So far I've worked through 51 out of 135 pages of blog posts on Tarrin's blog. That's well over one third of the whole blog. So...we're getting there, friends. We're getting there.

Added a Download page

I just added a Download page to the blog where you can find the 10-page one-shot I posted a few days ago.

Once I've caught up with Tarrin's blog posts up to March 2008 - which will be around the end of February - I'll also add a downloadable folder that contains all the comics that have been published in "Journal intime d'un Lémurien". They'll be sorted in the same order in which they appear in the book.
If you've read all the comics on this blog, then you won't find much new stuff in that folder though. The book is basically a collection of comics that Tarrin drew for his blog. You could almost call it a "slice of life" kind of book that contains anecdotes from Tarrin's life that happened between 2006 and 2008.

And it's pretty much the same with his book "Charlotte Gainsbourg mon amour": Most of the comics can be found on the blog. In the book the stories are sorted chronologically from 1975 to 2008. A large part of it deals with his crush on singer/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Like with the other book there is no real storyline. Just a collection of anecdotes.
The book was published in April 2010. So once I've caught up with Tarrin's blog posts up to then, I'll make that one available for download, too.

26 October 2007 - Comic #162

In 2006 Tarrin did some hoaxes (some of them together with Fred Neidhardt and Laurel) that were featured in the French mature-oriented comic magazine L'Écho des savanes. You can find the articles and pictures on his blog.

Le petit lémurien - Page 10

That was the last page of this comic. You can download the whole comic in a single batch off my mediafire.

Tomorrow I'll continue with the regular blog comics. More stories about Cyril the Duck and his family coming up!
